The AllSafe Pistol-Shotgun Combo Event is a simple
three-stage fun shoot to clearly demonstrate the virtues of the pistol and
shotgun and determine where each rules supreme. The pistol is faster on
target but requires more precise aim. The shotgun has more power to knock
down a target but is unwieldy in close quarters (in-the-home!) situations.
This
is not an instructional course but rather a simple shooting event where
participants can try different combinations of shooting techniques to
discover which firearm will accomplish the necessary task most
efficiently.
Shooters with auto-loaders should bring a least two magazines and revolver
shooters will need three speedloaders. Ammo required: 50 rounds of pistol
ammo and 25 shotshells are the minimum (bring more and shoot more!).
Buckshot is recommended (although heavy birdshot may be adequate) to knock
down the steel plates. No slugs are required.
Newer shooters can borrow a loaner shotgun from AllSafe but
need to supply their own handgun and holster. Although scores are kept, this is not a high-pressure
competition. There are no prizes, and winners will be rewarded with only the applause and
admiration of all who participate.
